INTRODUCING…
CM Editorial House is a boutique editing and book development service created by the team behind Creation Magazine.
We believe every writer deserves dedicated, thoughtful support: whether you're working on a first draft, preparing a manuscript for submission, or seeking guidance through the creative process.
Copy Editing
Copy editing polishes your manuscript at the technical level, correcting grammar, punctuation, and syntax while maintaining your writing style. Copy editing helps ensure your manuscript is polished, professional, and publication-ready. This type of editing involves:
Correcting grammar, spelling, and punctuation errors.
Ensuring consistency in formatting, tense, and style.
Checking for clarity and readability.
Catching redundancies and unnecessary repetition.
Fact-checking minor details for accuracy.
Line Editing
Line editing refines the flow and style of your writing, ensuring clarity, consistency, and engagement while preserving your unique voice. This level of editing focuses on the artistry of language, making sure every sentence contributes to a compelling, immersive reading experience. This type of editing involves:
Strengthening sentence structure for better readability.
Enhancing word choice and eliminating awkward phrasing.
Ensuring consistency in tone, style, and pacing.
Refining dialogue for authenticity and impact.
Clarifying meaning and improving transitions between ideas.
Developmental Editing
Developmental editing focuses on the big-picture elements of your book, helping you refine story structure, character development, pacing, themes, and conflict. This type of editing involves:
Assessing whether the narrative structure is coherent and engaging.
Evaluating character arcs and relationships.
Identifying plot inconsistencies or pacing issues.
Suggesting ways to deepen themes and improve storytelling elements.
Recommending structural changes that strengthen the manuscript overall. This is the most intensive level of editing and might involve multiple rounds of feedback.
Pricing: We're just beginning to expand into the editing side of things, and we're excited to work with writers in a way that feels collaborative, flexible, and grounded in care. We know every project—and every writer—is different, so we offer sliding-scale pricing based on what kind of editorial support you're looking for. Whether you need a close read, developmental guidance, or just a fresh set of eyes, we’ll work with you to find something that fits both your budget and your goals.
Testimonials
“Loved working with Morgan. She was warm and responsive. I thought her feedback was succinct and effective. She also provided feedback on the arc of the full poetry collection, which was very appreciated.”
— Emily Pera, Poet
“I am new to writing for an audience, and the service provided by Alexandra and her team of editorial advisors has significantly improved my work.
I routinely run my work through Grammarly and past some friends who do ‘editorial; work, and their suggestions (though good) pale in comparison to the in-depth and nuanced questions and suggestions provided by the CreationMag editorial service.
Of course, they do what I call ‘copy editing,’ but the real value lies in their attention to the ‘spirit’ of a piece. Character development, tone, plot inconsistencies, and other ‘hidden attributes.’ Those intangible, background details that make a work more accessible and satisfying.
Excellent stuff, and I look forward to working with them again, when I get off my ass and commit another story (or poem) to pixels and paper.”
-Chris Zientek, writer
“I engaged Creation Magazine's editorial services for my unpublished poetry manuscript. The team was supportive and communicative from start to finish, and everything about working with them was easy. Alexandra was an excellent communicator and facilitated my experience from application to connecting with my editor with professionalism but also great warmth. Ariana was my editor, and she was incredible. She clearly spent what can only be described as quality time with my manuscript, and delivered feedback that was objective, direct, and instructive. She provided extensive written feedback as well as a final video call where she provided input and ideas to strengthen the manuscript. We outlined clear goals for the editorial relationship, and Ariana delivered on each and every one. I would highly recommend working with the Creation team, they are excellent!”
